During the first part of his reign (1422-1435), Charles VII did not have access to all of his mints. In the north, for example, only Tournai and Mont-Saint-Michel remained loyal to him. The issue of the blanc dentillé in 1431 was an attempt to turn the coinage around (with a larger quantity of silver in the coins).
