PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This coin is based on the type of franc à pied used by the King of France. This franc à pied is very similar to the royal coins of the time, as the principality of Orange imitated many of the coins in circulation at the time, and the king often reproached the princes for this.
OBVERSE :
Description: Raymond IV, crowned with three roses, standing under a Gothic canopy with horns, wearing a coat of arms with horns, holding a sword in his right hand (a rose on the hilt) and a long sceptre in his left.
Legend: RAMVNDVS. DEI - GRA. PRN'. AVRA (Raymond, by the grace of God, Prince of Orange).
REVERSE :
Description: Cross treflé with angled quatrefoil in heart containing a point, cantoned at 1 and 4 with a crown, at 2 and 3 with a horn, within an angled quatrefoil flanked by eight horns.
